Mid Atlantic COSEE Funded Projects

Phoenix, Miami, and Cleveland to provide professional development on ocean science modules prepared by the COSEE partners.

CIESE and Rutgers are recruiting and training community college faculty members and middle school educators from each of three regions. Participants will provide turn-key instruction using the web modules and exemplary materials developed by the COSEE partners. This proposed model has been successfully implemented by CIESE through a $9.3 million U.S. Department of Education Technology Innovation Challenge Grant. The goal is to transform disadvantaged classrooms in Cleveland, Miami, and Phoenix through the use of compelling, Internet-based curriculum materials. In this project, CIESE is training community college faculty to become trainers and ongoing support resources for K-12 teachers through a two-tiered turn-key training initiative. The Mid-Atlantic COSEE is using this successful model program to deliver COSEE resources to inland teachers and students via community college faculty.
