The New York Aquarium has a long history of providing science education programs to families, students, teachers, special interest groups, government agencies and the general public. Programs incorporate resources from the Aquarium’s living collection of more than 8,000 specimens, researchers at the Osborn Laboratories of Marine Science, scientists from the parent World Conservation Society engaged in more than 320 projects throughout the world, as well as a knowledgeable staff of aquarists, animal trainers, water chemists, and educators. The Aquarium was recently designated as a Coastal Ecology Learning Center by the federal government.
