June 2004
New York Aquarium
Docent Training MA COSEE educators (IMCS-Rutgers partners and NY Aquarium) trained 120 docents to demonstrate a fish tagging activity for the public. This activity highlighted the use of biological observing systems and the value of real-time data. A computer touch screen display was developed as a pilot effort to expand our interaction and information delivery with Aquarium visitors.
May 2004 Student-Scientist Video Conference Educators, scientists, engineers, and most importantly inner
city 6th grade students from Empire Tech School in Cleveland, Ohio
participated in a joint "scientific meeting" using video conferencing
technology. The conference was a pilot program designed to connect
scientists directly with students to enhance science learning.

Building Pathways: Productive Partnerships Between Scientists and Educators This program brought 27 scientists and educators together to explore issues in science education from a regional to national perspective, the roles for scientists in education and vise versa... How can we create a symbiotic relationship?, and cognitive development: when and how to teach ocean sciences? Workshop Announcement
